Founded in 1611 at the falls on the James River, the Richmond Metro area has about 1,000,000 residents.  Richmond is the state capitol and is home to 6 Fortune 500 companies and another 6 companies in the Fortune 1000.  Just under 3 million tourists visited the region last year.
